High Fiber Foods: A High Fiber Diet is the Way to Stay Healthy
Eating healthy foods that are high in fiber will not only keep your body in top condition but you will be energized, you will look and feel healthy and you will be able to maintain a healthy weight a lot easier.
By eating a high fiber diet you will be able to control your weight thus reducing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke & arthritis.
Soluble and Insoluble Fiber: What's the Difference?
There are 2 types of fiber: water-insoluble and water-soluble. Water-insoluble fiber adds bulk to the diet. This type of fiber is found in vegetables and whole grain breads and cereals.Water-soluble fiber exits the stomach more slowly and helps your stomach feel full longer. This type of fiber is found in fruits, legumes, seeds, and oat products.
Insoluble fiber passes through the body quickly carrying cancer-causing substances through the digestive tract quicker. Insoluble fiber also helps prevent constipation because it exits the body quickly.
Soluble fiber absorbs fluids as it moves through your digestive track. During the process, the fiber dissolves and forms a gel. The gel moves slowly through the digestive system slowing the release of sugar and sugar absorption, thereby moderating blood glucose levels.

My Favorite High Fiber Foods
These are some great foods on the go, breakfast and more. These are some of my favorites, delicious, nutritious and very high fiber
My absolute favorite place to grocery shop locally is Trader Joe's. They have so many wonderful, organic products and the prices can't be beat. Some of my favorites are:
Trader Joe's Organic High Fiber O's - like Cheerios but a bit crunchier, these pack a whopping 10 grams of fiber per serving.
Milton's Whole Grain Bread - this bread is all natural (no high fructose corn syrup!), it's absolutely delicious and it has 5 grams of fiber per serving.
Trader Joe's Whole Wheat Couscous - this stuff is so easy to make, it's delicious with a bit of parmesan and salt and it has 7 grams of fiber per serving. If you don't know what couscous is, it's kind of like a cross between pasta and rice.
Trader Joe's Roasted Unsalted Almonds - these are great on the go or for a quick snack. They're high in protein, good fats and fiber.
If you don't have a Trader Joe's in your area yet, contact me and I'll get what you want and ship it direct to you.
